David Leroy
Anderson began sculpting professionally in Hollywood's special
effects make-up laboratories. Working for more than twenty years
on feature films, David has sculpted, designed, and applied the
make-ups of many notable characters, aliens, and monsters on films
such as Aliens, Spawn, The Nutty Professor,
and Men In Black. In March 1997, Anderson was awarded an
Academy Award for Best Make-Up for his work with Rick Baker on The
Nutty Professor. A year later, he and Baker won again for their
work in Men in Black.
In 2006, David was proud to receive another Academy Award nomination with his father, Lance, for Russel Crowe and all the boxing looks in Cinderella Man. His latest work can be seen in Universal's Evan Almighty, FROST/NIXON and MGM's upcoming Cabin in the Woods.
A longtime collector of
silver jewelry, Anderson decided to transform his sculptures into
a line of jewelry — wearable, functional art inspired by the bones
and skull of an African Lion. He calls his inaugural design "LEONIS
REX." Over a year in the making, "Leonis Rex" celebrates
the simple yet rare beauty of natural skeletal forms.
Over
time, David has turned his attention to other natural forms — fissures
of the earth and exoskeletons of ocean creatures. His latest line
of Silver Wear extends that fascination with the sea to jewelry
he calls "OCEAN NOUVEAU."
Over the past five years, David has explored the form of the Peace sign and has created a collection of pendants and accessories that celebrate this international symbol in an effort to promote peace among people of the world and reject armed conflict.
Known for his zealous attention to detail, Anderson himself crafts
each element of the jewelry as a small, wax sculpture — unique
in itself. After the pieces have been cast, Anderson assembles
each piece to insure quality and authenticity.
Anderson calls his company DLA SILVER WEAR because he is committed
to bringing his creations to the people in the form of unique sculptures
that are both exquisite and wearable.
